Invisalign®

What is Invisalign?

A clear, comfortable and almost invisible alternative to braces, Invisalign® is a versatile solution without the need for metal brackets and wires. Invisalign® treatment uses a series of smooth, clear, plastic trays called ‘aligners’ to gradually move your teeth into position.

Why choose Invisalign and not other clear aligners?

DESIGNED FOR SUCCESS FROM START TO FINISH

Patented products, like SmartTrack material and SmartForce attachments are designed optimally to deliver the desired force systems to move teeth more predictably exclusively to move teeth more predictably.

What are SmartForce attachments?

SmartForce attachments are small tooth-colored shapes that are attached to your teeth before or during your Invisalign treatment. They’re like handles, giving aligners something to gently push on. Invisalign clear aligners fit smoothly and tightly around them, so they’re barely noticeable. Not everyone who uses Invisalign clear aligners will need SmartForce attachments.

Customized treatment based on years of research and intelligence from millions of patients.

Teeth Conditions That Invisalign Can Fix

Invisalign is able to correct a wide range of teeth alignment problems including overcrowding, overjet, underbite, crossbite, open bite and spacing.

  • Overcrowding

Overcrowding is when there is insufficient room in your jaw for your teeth to fit normally. Your teeth can bunch up, overlap, twist, or get pushed to the front or back.

  • Overjet

An excessive overjet, also known as buck teeth, is when your upper front teeth extend too far horizontally over your lower front teeth. This is not to be confused with an overbite which is a vertical overlap of the lower teeth by the upper.

  • Underbite

An underbite is when your lower teeth and jaw protrude in front of the upper teeth. Severe cases may cause difficulty chewing food or challenges when speaking.

  • Crossbite

A crossbite is when some of your upper teeth sit behind your lower teeth. This may lead to abnormal tooth wear and chipping.

  • Open Bite

An open bite is when your upper and lower teeth do not touch when your mouth is closed. This may affect your appearance and cause speech problems like having a lisp.

  • Spacing

Spacing is when there is a gap between two or more of your teeth. It may cause speech problems and food can get stuck easily.

Benefits of Invisalign

There are many benefits to Invisalign treatment, which is why it’s an orthodontic treatment method we like to work with:

  • Discreet: Invisalign aligners are made of a thin, clear plastic so are almost invisible. They are great for people who are concerned about their appearance during treatment. With Invisalign, you can go about your daily activities such as playing an instrument and sports without fear of broken brackets or bent wires. For contact sports, you can remove your aligners to prevent them from cracking.
  • Hygienic: It’s easy to keep up with your teeth cleaning routine if you’re having Invisalign treatment. The aligners are removable so simply take them out to eat, drink, brush and floss.
  • Comfortable: Invisalign aligners are customised to the shape of your teeth and jaws so are comfortable to wear. They also have no metal or pokey wires to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. Customised aligner fits snugly around the teeth and applies a gentle, consistent pressure to shift your teeth to their desired position. As such, you are likely to experience less pain or soreness and the overall treatment process is generally more comfortable than braces.
  • No eating restrictions – You’ll take out your aligners to eat, brush your teeth and floss as normal, so you can enjoy all the foods you always have. You can even remove your aligners
  • Fewer dental appointments – While braces require you to visit the dentist every 4 to 8 weeks, you are only required to visit your dentist every 8 to 12 weeks with Invisalign. Each session may take approximately 5 to 10 minutes, making it great for those with busy schedules.

How Does Invisalign® Treatment Work?

Initial Consultation

Dental records are taken including photos, X-rays and digital scans or dental impression

Align Technology will use these records, along with the treatment prescription provided by the doctor, to create a customised 3D treatment plan (referred to as a ClinCheck treatment plan)

Based on the final treatment plan, a series of custom-made aligners are made and shipped to the practice
